History
Gomel State Medical Institute was founded on the 14th of November, 1990. In 2003, the Institute obtained accreditation and certification and thereby received the legal status of a University. By the Order of the Ministry of Public Health of the Republic of Belarus it was renamed into the Gomel State Medical University. At present, the educational process is organized at 35 departments, 18 of them are clinical and 9 are special courses included in the departments. Our University has been recognized by WHO and in 2010 as one of the first universities of the Republic obtained obtained Certification of Management System of compliance with International Standard ISO 9001.

The total number of students — 3350 (65 citizens of Russian Federation among them).
The total number of foreign students — 400.

Preporatory studies – from $1550
Level 1 - $2550 (in Russian)
Level 1 - $2950 (in Russian and English).
Campus Information
Students’ hostel is arranged in blocks of flats for 2 and 4 people in a room, for the total of 300 people. Kitchens are with electric ovens, fridges; every block has a shower and a toilet. There are also a gym and a study room with the aссess to the Internet in the hostel.
Sports Facilities
The students may use the University sports and recreation facilities free of charge, may go in for different kinds of sports. The students are regular participants of sports competitions in football, cricket, draughts and other kinds of sport.
Student Life
Various national festivals, Faculty Days, the contest “Mister Faculty”, festivals of national cuisine, get- to-know excursions around Gomel and Belarus, theme events to holidays and significant dates are held for the students.
