History
On 3rd February 1944 Council of National Commissioners of BSSR accepted the Decision 57 about renewal of activity of Rogachev Teacher’s Institute in Mozyr. Then its name was Mozyr Teacher’s Institute, and in the further the establishment has been transformed into Mozyr State Pedagogical Institute to which in 1964 on the Decision of Ministerial Council of BSSR had been given the name of N.K. Krupskaya. On results of the governmental certification in 2001 and accreditation for the university status, Ministry of Education of Republic of Belarus transformed in 2002 the Establishment of Education “Krupskaya State Pedagogical University, Mozyr” into the Establishment of Education “Mozyr State Pedagogical University”. The university has in its structure 9 faculties and 32 departments. In August 2006, by the Decree of the President of Belarus №500, the Establishment of Education Mozyr State Pedagogical University’ had been given the name of a famous Belarusian writer I.P. Shamyakin. At the present time the university became the large educational, scientific and cultural center of the Belarusian Polesye (woodland district at the South of Belarus).

Campus Information
The University has three student hostels. The most of the accommodation options comprise rooms shared by 3-4 persons, with common kitchen and toilets on the floor. There are also hostels of block type with toilets common for two rooms. Furniture includes beds, chairs, desks, built-in wardrobes, and book shelves. Pricing for hostel equals $30 per month.

Great emphasis is laid on sports achievement in the University. There are sections of more than 20 kinds of sports at the University. Student Life For development of students’ creativity 56 cultural associations are created in the university. A number of cultural events, such as “Ms. University”, “Mr. University”, “The Student of Year” and many others are held. |
