History
Professor Alexander Mikhailovich Shirokov, Doctor of Science, Academician of the National and International Academies, Honored Science Worker of Republic of Belarus was the founder and the first Rector of the Institute. The Institute was named after A.M. Shirokov by the decision of Minsk Municipal Council (№8, 15.01.2004).

Sports Facilities
It is propagated by the “School of Health” lecture center. Traditionally the Institute organizes such actions as: “Youth against AIDS”, “Day without tobacco”, “We are together”. An Institute information team actively works on popularization of healthy way of life.
The authorities of the Institute actively foster love for sports among our students — we rent tennis courts,
a gym, a swimming pool, a game sports hall.
Student Life
The creative clothes design workshop, a hobby group of ceramics, a violin ensemble “Virtuosos”, a dancing club, a theatre of a fashion, a student’s producer club, a scientific student’s seminar “Genius” attract student’s attention when they are free from their studies.
