History

The Belarusian Institute of Mechanization of Agriculture was founded in Minsk in October of 1954. It started to train engineers in the field of Mechanization of Agriculture and Electrification of Farm Production Processes.
Since 2000 its official name has been Educational Institution “Belarusian State Agrarian and Technical University”.
Since 2004 BSATU is the leading agro-engineering institution of higher education in the field of agriculture.
More than 37,5 thousand specialists with higher education have been trained at the University since
1954. At present 671 lecturers among them 55 Doctors of Sciences and 272 Candidates of Sciences, 5 Academician and Corresponding Members of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Belarus provide scientific, teaching and methodical work at the University. The structure of the University includes the University Administration, 7 faculties, 40 depart- ments, 27 sections and services as well as the Institute of Advanced Training Work in the Agro-Industrial Complex.

The total number of students — more than 12000. 
The total number of foreign students — from 130 to 170 students per year (including those taking language courses).

Campus Information

There is a hall of residence of block type. Each block consists of two rooms (one for 2 people, the other — for 3 people) and a bathroom. The rooms are furnished with a standard set of furniture. International students reside on a separate floor with more than 150 places available.
The living wage is $150-200 per month, cost of residing in a hostel — $20-25 per month, medical check- up — $70, obligatory medical insurance — €85.

 
 Sports Facilities

A stadium, a skiing lodge, game halls, a hall of power kinds of sports, a hall of boxing, an exercise room,  a  hall  of  wrestling,  the  medico-regenerative center, 15 sections (the Graeco-Roman wrestling, free- style  wrestling,  weightlifting,  table  tennis,  boxing, powerlifting,  arm-wrestling,  kick-boxing,  track  and field athletics, football, basketball, mini-football etc.).

Student Life

There are 42 amateur groups and club associations available for students; they include vocal groups, pop theatre, folk theatre “Prometheus”, the choreographic studio “Accent”, a break-dance studio, sports dances studio, literary and art association, KVN etc.
