History
May 1918 — following the decision of the delegates to the All-Russia Congress of Teachers’ Institutes Minsk Teachers’ Institute acquires the status of a higher education institution, the name of the Institute is changed and the period of education becomes 4 years.
1921 — Minsk Institute of People’s Education becomes a part of the Belarusian State University as a pedagogical faculty. From then on, specialized education only starts in the second year of study.
July 28, 1931 — Pedagogical Faculty of BSU becomes an independent unit called Belarusian State Higher Pedagogical Institute.
1948 — Based on the Faculty for Foreign Languages of the MSPI, Minsk State Pedagogical Institute for Foreign Languages is established.
1975 — Based on the Librarian Faculty of the MSPI, Minsk Institute for Culture is established.
September 8, 1993 — Minsk State Pedagogical University named after A.M.Gorky acquires the status of a university.
1995 — Since this year, our alma mater has had the name of the Belarusian people’s poet Maksim Tank.
2007 — BSPU becomes a member of the Eurasian Association of Universities.

Tuition Fees (per year) Campus Information
Foreign students stay in the hostels in 2 or 3-bed rooms. The facilities are located either in the rooms or on the same floors. Sports Facilities The system of physical training, remedial and sport activities has been formed at the University. It is implemented by the sport club “Pedagog” and the department for physical education and sports. At the University, there are 14 sports sections (aerobics, shaping, body-building, table tennis, team sports, chess) and 29 University teams in various sports. Tourist club “Horizont” has actively operated at the University for 43 years.
