History
1930 — The Forestry Institute was opened in Gomel to train engineering staff for forestry, forest and woodworking industries.
1934 — The Forestry Institute was renamed into the Belarusian Forestry-Engineering Institute; in 1935 it was given the name of S.M. Kirov.
1946 — The Institute was transferred to Minsk.
1961 — The Institute began training specialists for chemical industry; it was renamed into the Belarusian Technological Institute.
1980 — The Institute was awarded the Order of Red Labour Banner for training highly-qualified engineers and researchers.
1993 — The Institute was reorganized into the University, official name is the Belarusian State Technological University.
2005 — The University was given the status of the basic higher educational institution in the field of forestry, chemical and printing industries.
2007 — The University was given the status of the basic educational institution of the CIS states in the field of forestry and forest industry.

Campus Information
Foreign students get accommodation at the university hostels of block type. There are double- and three- bed rooms. The number of beds comprises 140.
Sports Facilities
A great attention is paid to the students’ physical training and sport. They are trained in different sports groups. The students also take part in various interfaculty competitions, district, city, republican and international sports contests. A year-round sports contest is organized in 10 kinds of sport (running, swimming, table tennis, mini-football, volleyball, basketball, draughts, chess, power lifting, skiing).
Student Life
Annually the University arranges a great number of cultural and entertainment events for students. Different contests, concerts, discotheques, performances of the witty youth club are held at hostels and faculties. National cuisine parties and amateur performances are organized for international students annually.
